Changing your internet provider is now just one click away: A new era begins
Starting June 1, fixed internet subscribers in Turkey will be able to change operators entirely in a digital environment via the e-Government system. With this new application, transitions will be much faster and more secure.
The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) is introducing significant innovations to the process of changing operators for fixed internet services. According to the new regulation, when subscribers want to change their internet provider, they will now be able to initiate the process via e-Government. In this way, the bureaucratic processes and arbitrary practices experienced by citizens will become a thing of the past.
According to the plan, in the new operator change process, when a subscriber initiates a request, they will be notified via a text message for verification, and identity authentication will take place on the e-Government platform. All steps from the beginning to the end of the application will be trackable in a digital environment, thus preventing fake or unauthorized operator switches.
According to the report by Cemal Kurt from Turkey, there are also some limitations in the application. Subscribers who have changed operators in the last 30 days will not be able to apply again, and they will have the right to change providers a maximum of four times within a year.
THE OLD OPERATOR'S ATTEMPTS TO DISSUADE THE SUBSCRIBER WILL BE PREVENTED
The regulation strictly prohibits the old operator from contacting the subscriber during the transition process to try to make them change their mind. Furthermore, service providers will only be allowed to reject applications for specified technical or administrative reasons. Practices such as obstructing applications or delaying transactions for arbitrary reasons will also be eliminated with the new regulation.
Specific timeframes for the operator change process will be included in the system for the first time. The current internet provider will be required to approve the application or reject it with a valid justification within 48 hours at the latest. The new operator will finalize the completion of the transaction within a maximum of 7 days. If the specified timeframes are exceeded, the transaction will be automatically canceled by the system.
NO INTERNET OUTAGES IN THE NEW ERA
With the implementation of the new system, subscribers will not experience any internet outages during operator changes. The current operator will continue to provide service until the transition is complete, and the connection will be maintained without interruption once the new operator takes over. It is stated that this application will provide significant advantages, especially for workplaces and individuals who need a constant connection.
