In a statement from Google, it was noted that hundreds of workers from various departments, such as hardware, voice assistant, and engineering units, have been laid off.

The statement noted that the company would invest in its top priorities, stating, "Some teams are continuing to make these types of organizational changes, which include the elimination of some roles globally."
