5G technology has reached 21 million users in Turkey.
Turkey has opened the doors to a new digital era with the implementation of 5G technology. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that approximately 21 million subscribers have gained access to this advanced communication infrastructure as 5G is gradually rolled out across all provinces.
COVERS 21 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS
In a written statement regarding the 5G transition process, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan launched the 5G era yesterday, marking a significant turning point. Pointing out that there are more than 32 million 5G-compatible devices across Turkey, Uraloğlu stated that the new generation connection, which has been launched gradually in 81 provinces, covers 21 million subscribers.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that communication and informatics have become one of the most strategic sectors today. He stated that 5G is not just a communication technology, but will also initiate a comprehensive transformation in the country's economic, industrial, health, transportation, and agricultural sectors.
“With its ultra-low latency and high device connection capacity compared to 4.5G, 5G will move Turkey to the center of digital transformation. With this technology, traffic will be managed more safely and effectively, from fully autonomous driving to smart road applications in transportation. In the industrial sector, production processes will be reshaped with smart factories, autonomous robots, and real-time data analysis. In smart city projects, innovative applications from energy management to parking systems will come to life,” he said.
INVESTMENTS AND LOCAL CONTENT REQUIREMENT
Minister Uraloğlu reported that the 5G authorization tender, which took place with the participation of three mobile operators and concluded on October 16, 2025, generated 3 billion 534 million dollars in revenue. He stated that with the 5G tender, operators have been mandated to use up to 60 percent domestic goods certified products and up to 30 percent national communication products over the years.
Uraloğlu added, “We aim to offer 5G services to our citizens in every corner of our country within the next two years.”
