A new era for ChatGPT: Age limit is coming
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that adult users may be subject to identity verification to increase security on the platform.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced that they will be launching a new security era for ChatGPT, the world's most widely used artificial intelligence platform. Altman stated that an identity and age verification system could be implemented to increase user safety.
Altman explained that they are preparing a series of measures specifically aimed at protecting users under the age of 18. Accordingly, identity verification may also be required for adult users in some countries.
USERS AGED 13-18 WILL HAVE ACCESS TO A RESTRICTED VERSION
If the new system is implemented, users between the ages of 13 and 18 will only be able to access a restricted version of ChatGPT. In this version, the artificial intelligence will not engage in flirtatious conversations and will not conduct dialogues on sensitive topics such as suicide or self-harm.
Altman stated that if the platform detects sensitive situations, parents will be notified first, and if they cannot be reached, notifications will be made directly to the authorities. The new system is planned to be launched next month.
