Solar storm could impact Earth

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has reported that an M7.4-class solar flare, emitted from an active region on the Sun, is heading toward Earth. It is stated that this event has sent a powerful plasma cloud toward our planet, which could begin to have an effect starting this evening.

The geomagnetic storm is classified as a G3 category, and it is noted that this level could cause temporary issues in satellite communications, GPS systems, and power grids. A G3-level storm can make position and orientation control for satellites difficult, cause significant deviations in GPS systems, and create short circuits and voltage imbalances in power transmission lines.

Solar storms are classified from G1 to G5, and each level is defined by its impact on technological systems and the magnetic field on Earth. While G1 and G2 levels are generally considered harmless, G3 and higher levels can create more serious effects.

NOAA emphasizes that solar activity has increased recently and highlights the importance of regularly monitoring such space weather events. Many countries are keeping emergency teams on standby to minimize the effects of such events. Scientists state that this storm could cause the aurora borealis to be visible over wider areas, though the brightness of the Moon may reduce the visibility of this natural phenomenon.
