Ahmet Çakar announces his resignation: 'Illegal betting' claim to dominate the agenda

The illegal betting allegations regarding meritking.news, which Galatasaray signed a back-of-jersey sponsorship deal with, continue to remain on the agenda.

Criticizing Galatasaray harshly over the agreement in question, commentator and former referee Ahmet Çakar resigned from his position, claiming that the two institutions he worked for were involved in similar activities.

Announcing his resignation on his personal X account, Çakar stated the following:

"Friends, I had to leave Radyo Gol and the YouTube channel called Sansürsüz Futbol because they were advertising a site called MeritKing.news, which is alleged to be an illegal betting site. While criticizing Galatasaray for advertising this site, it would have been contrary to the ethical and moral principles I adopt to work for an institution that advertises this site on its radio station. I present this to the information of my valued followers."

GALATASARAY HAD SUSPENDED THE AGREEMENT

Galatasaray had suspended the sponsorship agreement that caused controversy in the sports community.

The statement made by the Yellow-Red club to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) included the following:

"The contract signed by our Company with Serwin Global Solutions SDN BHD regarding the promotion of the "meritking.news" brand, which is a digital sports news platform, has been suspended until the information, documents, and other allegations submitted to our company are clarified.
