In the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Real Madrid drew 3-3 at home against Manchester City. Dutch football legend Rafael van der Vaart used harsh words regarding the English team's striker Erling Haaland, who put in an ineffective performance during the match.
"IF HAALAND DOESN'T SCORE, HE'S USELESS"
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, van der Vaart said about Haaland, "If Haaland doesn't score, he's not much use. Of course, he is fast and works hard, but I think he is quite mediocre when it comes to playing with the ball. If you are really that good and everyone is talking about you, then you should have those kinds of qualities. It also has a bit to do with quality."
"HE WAS THE WORST ON THE PITCH"
Claiming that other Manchester City players stopped passing the ball to Haaland after a while in the match, van der Vaart stated, "They managed to play with him a few times and then thought: Never mind. You have a lot of strikers who score goals and aren't very involved in the build-up play. However, Haaland was the worst on the pitch in this match."
