Fenerbahçe Beko defeated 99-69 by French side
Fenerbahçe Beko head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius stated that they delivered a very poor defensive performance after losing 99-69 to French side Monaco, whom they hosted in the 15th week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Speaking at the press conference held after the match played at the Ülker Sports and Event Hall, the Lithuanian coach said, "I congratulate Monaco. They played better.
I don't know what to say. We were very bad on defense. They hit very difficult shots in the third quarter. Conceding 99 points on our home court is not something that can be accepted." he stated.
Responding to a question about the increasing number of injured players, Jasikevicius said, "There are no excuses at Fenerbahçe. The same team won in Madrid. We need to look at our mistakes. We must continue on our path without giving up. We cannot underestimate the problems. We need to show character and expect sacrifice. In a team where I am the head coach, excuses are never acceptable." he said.
"A BIG WIN"
Monaco Head Coach Vassilis Spanoulis stated that they achieved a very important victory against a strong team.
Emphasizing that they reflected what they wanted onto the court during the match, Spanoulis expressed his views by saying, "It is a big win for us. We played patiently and got a victory against a very big team. We moved the ball very well. We played a good team game."
The Greek head coach noted that national player Furkan Korkmaz, who could not play in the match, has started training and that they expect him to join the team.
