Fenerbahçe takes 2-1 lead in final series

In the third game of the Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League play-off final series, Fenerbahçe defeated Beşiktaş 82-71 on the road, bringing the series to 2-1.

Fenerbahçe takes 2-1 lead in final series

In the third game of the Basketball Super League play-off final series, Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe faced off at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.

The Yellow-Navy Blues started the game with points from Tarık and Melli, while the Black-Whites tied the score at 5-5 in the opening minutes with an effective performance from Dotson. During this period of back-and-forth scoring, Beşiktaş entered the television timeout with a 3-point lead. 13-10

After Fenerbahçe failed to score on consecutive possessions and Beşiktaş played effectively with the support of their fans, the lead grew to 8 points with 3 minutes and 8 seconds remaining. Although the visiting team reduced the deficit with points from Baldwin and Metecan, the first quarter ended with a 23-19 lead for Beşiktaş.

The second period of the derby began with 3-point shots. Fenerbahçe found success with Jantunen and Tarık, while Anthony Brown responded for Beşiktaş from the bench. The Yellow-Navy Blues took the lead with 3 minutes and 44 seconds remaining thanks to a 3-pointer from Devon Hall. 34-37

For the hosts, Anthony Brown hit a 3-pointer on his 5th attempt, while Khem Birch responded under the basket, and Fenerbahçe entered the locker room with a 43-40 lead.

The Yellow-Navy Blues started the 3rd quarter effectively, extending the lead to 11 points in 2 minutes and 33 seconds. After a period of alternating scores, Beşiktaş narrowed the gap with Brown and Dotson. With 1 minute and 56 seconds left, Melli scored from the free-throw line for Fenerbahçe, bringing the score to 61-51. At this point, a technical foul was called on Beşiktaş head coach Dusan Alimpijevic, and Alimpijevic headed to the locker room. The Black-Whites reduced the lead back to 4 points with points from Morgan and Dotson under the basket, but a buzzer-beater by Melli gave Fenerbahçe a 64-58 lead at the end of the 3rd period.

In the opening minutes of the final period, Tarık and Horton-Tucker went to the free-throw line for Fenerbahçe, followed by exchange of 3-pointers between Dotson and Devon Hall. After Nicolo Melli scored under the basket with 5 minutes and 57 seconds remaining, the teams entered the timeout with an 8-point difference. 67-75

The Canary increased the lead in the remaining time with Talen Horton-Tucker and Devon Hall while remaining effective on defensive rebounds. The Yellow-Navy Blues left the court with an 82-71 victory.

In the match, Devon Dotson and Anthony Brown each scored 22 points, but these performances were not enough to prevent the defeat.

The 4th game of the final series will be played on Friday, June 19, again at Sinan Erdem.
