Galatasaray announces decision on Rezan Epözdemir

The Galatasaray Club board of directors has decided to suspend the membership of Rezan Epözdemir, who is currently detained at Çorlu Prison. This decision, reached unanimously by the board, was made following Epözdemir's association with allegations of FETÖ and espionage.

REFERRED TO THE DISCIPLINARY BOARD

According to information obtained, Rezan Epözdemir will be referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion at the club congress to be held in October. Epözdemir had been taken into custody within the scope of two separate investigations on charges of "bribery," "aiding the FETÖ/PDY armed terrorist organization," and "political and military espionage." A confidentiality order is in place for one of these investigations.

A witness in the investigation file, identified as A.D., alleged that Epözdemir accepted bribes in three separate incidents. According to A.D.'s statement, in an incident that took place in 2021, Rezan Epözdemir and C.Ç. received a total of 150 thousand dollars in bribes in exchange for a release procedure. Half of this money was paid before the release, and the other half was paid after. The witness stated that the first payment was delivered to Epözdemir by C.Ç. on July 7, 2021.
