Galatasaray's away game bill falls on Icardi

Unexpected defeats in recent weeks have opened the door to significant changes in Galatasaray's forward line. Especially after poor results in away games, Mauro Icardi's performance on the pitch has come under scrutiny within the club.

Following the 2-1 defeat against Trabzonspor, the technical staff noted that the 32-year-old striker failed to provide the expected contribution after being started in the first 11 in three different away matches. Icardi's presence in the starting 11 during the point losses in Kocaeli, Konya, and most recently Trabzon, was the target of criticism.

Ahead of the postponed match to be played against Göztepe, head coach Okan Buruk and his assistants have taken a significant, radical step. According to sources close to the club, it has been decided that Mauro Icardi, who is at the center of the criticism, will now start away matches from the bench. With this decision, it has become almost impossible for the experienced striker to be included in the starting 11 for away games.

On the other hand, squad planning for home matches is also being reviewed following the loss in the Trabzonspor match. While the bench is on the agenda for three names in the team, Galatasaray fans are focused on the results to be achieved before the Göztepe clash.
