The behind-the-scenes of the Kante transfer revealed: The name who reached out to Erdoğan is clear!
Fenerbahçe's N'Golo Kanté transfer, which had stalled during the FIFA TMS process, was revived after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan intervened; the transfer was completed following Al-Ittihad's decision to terminate the contract. Here are the details of the Kante transfer...
Fenerbahçe's transfer crisis with Kante ended on a happy note after President Erdoğan intervened at the last minute. Following this interesting development, Fenerbahçe Club thanked Erdoğan.
It was learned that Fenerbahçe Board Member Ömer Topbaş reached out to President Erdoğan, who was in Saudi Arabia for official talks. Ömer Topbaş is the son of the late former Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Kadir Topbaş, who passed away in 2021...
Difficulties arose during the transfer process between the French midfielder N’Golo Kanté, one of Fenerbahçe's targets during the mid-season transfer window, and the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.
The two clubs had also agreed on a swap plan involving Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri moving to Al-Ittihad. However, the transfer process reached a deadlock because the parties could not upload the necessary documents to FIFA's Transfer Matching System (TMS) in a timely and accurate manner.
In a statement made by Fenerbahçe, it was noted that the club had fulfilled its obligations on time and that the contract details and documents were entered into the system completely, but the registration process could not be completed due to incorrect information entered by Al-Ittihad.
The club stated that it sought a solution through individual meetings with FIFA and requests for extensions, but initially announced that the transfer process had ended yesterday.
However, an interesting development occurred later. Al-Ittihad decided to proceed with the transfer by agreeing to terminate Kanté’s contract. Following this, Fenerbahçe renewed the agreement and officially announced that a long-term contract had been signed with Kanté.
Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran, in a statement on the club's official website, mentioned the role of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the realization of the transfer and expressed his gratitude.
Saran stated, 'Our club has successfully completed the transfer process of N’Golo Kanté, one of the important names in world football. On behalf of myself and my club, I would like to express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his significant support in ensuring the positive conclusion of this process, which will contribute to the development of both our Fenerbahçe and Turkish football.'
ÖMER TOPBAŞ REACHED ERDOĞAN
Journalist Burak Doğan shared striking information regarding the behind-the-scenes of the transfer.
Doğan reported that after the Kante transfer hit a dead end, Fenerbahçe Board Member Ömer Topbaş reached out to the delegation of President Erdoğan, who was set to visit Saudi Arabia, and presented the situation.
Stating that President Erdoğan explained the issue to Crown Prince Salman before the meeting in Saudi Arabia, Doğan said, 'Prince Salman did not turn down President Erdoğan’s request and gave instructions to Al-Ittihad Club and the Saudi Football Federation to re-evaluate and complete the process.'
