The outcome of the lawsuit filed by French player Joris Gnagnon, whose contract was terminated by Sevilla in 2021 due to being overweight, has been determined.

According to the decision made by CAS, the case brought by Gnagnon has been concluded definitively in favor of Sevilla, with no possibility of appeal.

According to reports in the Spanish press, CAS found the player's behavior to be unprofessional and rejected his claim for compensation.

On the other hand, Gnagnon's request, which he had previously submitted to FIFA by filing a 4 million euro compensation lawsuit, had also been rejected by FIFA.

The details of the report state that CAS ruled the weight criteria set by Sevilla FC were reasonable, and noted that Sevilla had opened disciplinary investigations against the player four times before the termination and had provided him with the necessary opportunities.

STILL WITHOUT A CLUB

Currently 27 years old and without a team, Gnagnon signed a contract with his country's club Saint-Etienne after leaving Sevilla, but he was only able to stay there for four months.

According to reports from France, Gnagnon also experienced weight problems at Saint-Etienne. According to his coach Pascal Dupraz, he had arrived at the French club 20 kilos overweight.

The CAS decision not only supports the Andalusian club's decision but also aims to establish a precedent for employment relationships between clubs and footballers.

Gnagnon had transferred to Sevilla from Rennes in 2020 for 15 million euros and appeared in only 17 matches for the Spanish team.
