High-level departure at FIFA: Kevin Lamour, who criticized Infantino's World Cup plan, leaves his post

FIFA Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kevin Lamour has left his position following his criticism of FIFA President Gianni Infantino's plan to sell World Cup shares to private investors.

In an email sent to staff by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom, it was stated that the organization and Lamour had "agreed to part ways."

Lamour, a French football executive seen as the number three in the organization, had argued that staff were being misled by Infantino regarding the plan in question.

"This is one person's project. This project should not only be shelved, but it is also time for football's leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions."

Lamour, who previously served as deputy general secretary at UEFA, had been working at FIFA since November 2024.

Infantino's senior advisor Carlos Cordeiro also left his post in July following the leak of the plan to the press.
