In Fenerbahçe's 2-1 defeat to Galatasaray in the 9th week of the Süper Lig, manager İsmail Kartal drew attention to the performance, particularly in the first half, during his post-match assessment.
In the derby played at RAMS Park, Galatasaray went into the break with the lead thanks to two goals scored by Victor Osimhen in the first half. Although Fenerbahçe narrowed the gap to one with a goal from İrfan Can in the second half, they were unable to change the score in the remaining time, and the match ended in a 2-1 victory for the yellow-reds.

Speaking after the match, Kartal stated that his team's performance in the first half fell below expectations, saying, "I don't want to talk too much. We played a game in the first half that did not suit us. We recovered in the second half and found a goal. We finished with a defeat we did not want. We want to look ahead by evaluating the reasons for this within ourselves."

The experienced manager emphasized that the display in the first half did not suit Fenerbahçe and apologized to the fans. Kartal stated, "Unfortunately, we did not play the game we wanted in the first half. We competed with a performance that did not suit us. We tried to get more involved in the game in the second half. But this evening, unfortunately, this is all we could achieve. We apologize to our fans."
It was stated that the reasons for the derby defeat would be evaluated within the team on the Fenerbahçe side, and that the yellow-navy blues would focus on their upcoming matches in the league.
