Mourinho evaluates the possibility of a return to Benfica
Renowned manager Jose Mourinho, in statements to the Portuguese press, evaluated the possibility of a return to Benfica and the process of his departure from Fenerbahçe.
Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho spoke about the possibility of returning to Benfica as head coach. Mourinho stated that he would be pleased to meet with the Benfica management upon his return to Portugal.
The 62-year-old coach said, "If I return to Benfica, it will not mean a celebration in my career or a homecoming after 25 years."
Mourinho also made statements regarding his departure from Fenerbahçe. Noting that Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç had a different approach than his own, Mourinho said, "He spoke many times after he left, but he did not explain why the player who eliminated us was transferred."
Mourinho added that when he leaves clubs, he closes the door and does not respond to provocations.
Fenerbahçe had parted ways with Mourinho after being eliminated by Benfica in the UEFA Champions League play-off round. Mourinho's statements during this process have caused a wide stir in the football world.
