Mourinho responds to Real Madrid rumors
Benfica manager Jose Mourinho has stated that his focus is solely on the Portuguese club, despite his name being linked with Real Madrid and Juventus.
Jose Mourinho, who is having a successful season at the helm of Benfica in the Portuguese Super League, has recently been frequently linked with Real Madrid and Juventus. Real Madrid has been continuing with Alvaro Arbeloa on an interim basis following the departure of manager Xabi Alonso, but the club is searching for a new head coach for the end of the season.
While the experienced manager Mourinho's name has come to the fore for the Spanish club, reports have also appeared in the press suggesting that Juventus is interested in the Portuguese coach. However, Mourinho has broken his silence regarding these transfer rumors.
In an interview with the Italian press, Mourinho responded directly to the claims about his future. Emphasizing that his full concentration is on Benfica, the experienced manager stated: “Am I going to Real Madrid or Juventus? No, my next goal is to take Benfica to the Champions League. We have had an extraordinary journey. We are the only team in the league in Europe that has not lost a match. If we win our next three matches, we will play in Europe's biggest cup. That is all I have on my mind.”
Mourinho's statements served as an indication that he has not taken any steps regarding the major clubs he has been linked with for next season. With these words, he underscored his determination to continue his duties at Benfica.
