Serdar Dursun responds to backlash over attending derby match
Kocaelispor player Serdar Dursun has addressed the criticism he received for attending the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby.
Serdar Dursun, who was at the stadium to watch the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby and participated in the Fenerbahçe fans' choreography, has responded to the backlash that followed.
Dursun, who currently plays for Kocaelispor, stated that he went to the match at the invitation of his former club, Fenerbahçe, saying, "I don't think there is a problem with this. There is a wrong perception in Turkey regarding playing against a former team. We need to get rid of this mentality."
MESSAGE TO FANS
In his remarks directed at Kocaelispor fans, Serdar Dursun said, "We are honorable and proud people. There is no such thing as throwing a match or playing poorly on purpose. My only mistake was sharing that moment on social media. I wish I hadn't shared it. If I have upset the Kocaelispor fans, I apologize."
WANTS TO PLAY AGAINST FENERBAHÇE
Emphasizing that he will do his best for Kocaelispor's success, Dursun added, "It doesn't matter who I am playing against; I am a Kocaelispor player. When we play against Fenerbahçe, I want to be on the pitch, perform well, and score a goal. The fans should rest assured, I will fight until the end."
