Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran was referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine as part of a drug investigation. During the examinations, traces of cocaine were found in a hair sample from Saran, and this situation was reported to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Following these developments, former Fenerbahçe president Ali Koç made a surprise visit to the club headquarters to show his support for Saran. It had been previously alleged that Ali Koç planned to go to the airport to offer moral support to Saran, but that he had canceled those plans.
This visit by Ali Koç drew attention within the Fenerbahçe community and was interpreted as a sign of support for Saran.
