Demonstrations and similar events banned in Gaziantep
Following an announcement by the Gaziantep Governor's Office, demonstrations and similar events have been banned across the city for 15 days.
Following Van, a ban decision has also come from Gaziantep. According to the statement by the Gaziantep Governor's Office, demonstrations and similar events have been banned across the city for 15 days. A written statement was issued by the Governor's Office regarding the matter.
The statement noted the following:
"With the exception of general assemblies and meetings to be held by political parties, unions, and non-governmental organizations within their own buildings for their own personnel and members, as well as programs and events of state institutions and organizations, official holidays, official commemoration days, official ceremonies and celebrations, programs to be held according to traditions and customs, sports activities, and events that can be carried out within the scope of programs held for scientific, commercial, and economic purposes, and those permitted by application to our Governor's Office, all meetings and demonstration marches, press statements, indoor and outdoor meetings, protest actions, rallies, tent pitching, sit-in protests, sit-ins, setting up stands, hunger strikes, commemoration ceremonies, hanging posters, banners and placards, distributing flyers and leaflets, setting up signature tables, lighting and carrying torches, conferences, panels, seminars, kermesses, and fundraising activities of all kinds have been banned by our Governor's Office for 15 days from 01:00 on February 13 to 24:00 on February 27, in accordance with Article 11/C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442 and the provisions of Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstration Marches No. 2911."
