A woman living in Istanbul decided to hire a private detective after her husband wanted a divorce, leading her to suspect his fidelity. Conducting research online, the woman contacted individuals who introduced themselves as detectives. However, while trying to find out if she was being cheated on, she became the victim of the biggest fraud of her life.

The scammers told the victim they could prove her husband's betrayal and recover deleted messages. Stating that she needed to purchase specific packages for this, they collected a total of 7 million TL at different times.

Investigating the incident, the Fraud Bureau teams of the Public Security Branch revealed that there was a 7-person gang behind this fraud. It was determined that the suspects made transfers to different accounts to cover the trail of the money and wore motorcycle helmets to avoid being recognized during bank transactions. Conducting a detailed study to identify the leader of the gang, the police learned that one of the suspects had a cast on their arm. Examining orthopedic fracture cases, the teams reached the gang leader thanks to this detail.

The 7 suspects were caught and arrested in a simultaneous operation carried out in Ankara on Wednesday, January 22. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
