Did the Secret Service knowingly fail to prevent the assassination attempt on Trump? Senate announces its decision

The U.S. Senate, which investigated the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump in July, reported that 'Secret Service failures were foreseeable, preventable, and directly related to the events that resulted in the assassination attempt.'

The report by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs regarding the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania has been released.

The report stated that security forces made errors in the areas of 'planning, communication, security, and resource allocation' during the July assassination attempt on Trump.

Furthermore, the report characterized these errors as 'foreseeable, preventable, and directly related to the events that resulted in the assassination attempt.'

Noting that there was no clear chain of command between the Secret Service and other security agencies, the report also stated that the building from which the perpetrator, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired at Trump was not included in the security planning.

LOCAL POLICE SPOTTED THE ATTACKER, SECRET SERVICE COULD NOT PREVENT IT

The report stated that the Secret Service received a report about a suspicious person on the roof of the building from which shots were fired approximately 2 minutes before the attack, and that about 22 seconds before Crooks opened fire, a local police officer sent a warning via radio that there was an armed person on the roof of the building in question, but this warning was not relayed to Secret Service personnel.

In the Secret Service report released on September 21, flaws were also identified in both federal and local law enforcement agencies prior to the July assassination attempt on Trump, and it was revealed that communication breakdowns with local law enforcement negatively affected the performance of the Secret Service.

FIRST ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON TRUMP

Trump was subjected to an armed attack while addressing his supporters from a podium at a rally in the Butler area of Pennsylvania on July 13; 1 person attending the rally died, 2 people were injured, and the U.S. Secret Service announced that the attacker had been neutralized.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defined the attack as an assassination attempt and, following investigations, announced that the person who carried out the attempt and was killed at the scene was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who faced criticism after former U.S. President Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally, resigned on July 23.

Roland Rowe, who became Acting Director after Cheatle, testified before the Senate committee on July 30 regarding the assassination attempt and stated that he could not 'defend' why the roof from which the assassination attempt on Trump was carried out was not secured.
