The news of Caprio's death was confirmed by his family to the NBC-affiliated channel WJAR on Wednesday.

In a statement released by his family, it was noted: "He will be remembered not only as a respected judge but also as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His legacy continues to live on in the countless acts of kindness he inspired. In his honor, let each of us strive to bring a little more compassion into the world - just as he did every day."

In the last video he shared on social media, where he asked his followers for prayers, Caprio had said in his message: "Unfortunately, I had a setback, I am back in the hospital now, and I am coming to you once again to ask you to remember me in your prayers."

HE BECAME A PHENOMENON WITH HIS RULINGS

Caprio had won the hearts of viewers with his humane and compassionate rulings on the long-running television program "Caught in Providence."

Becoming a phenomenon with the approach he displayed in the cases he presided over and his witty style, Caprio had earned the title of "the world's best judge."
