Allegations of 'treason' in the Venezuelan military: He was Maduro's closest aide
Following the capture of President Maduro in an operation carried out by the US, a high-level treason scandal has emerged within the Venezuelan military.
In Venezuela, a comprehensive investigation and restructuring process has been initiated following the capture of the country's leader, Nicolás Maduro, in a military operation carried out by U.S. forces.
It was announced that following this operation, which was reported to have been conducted by the U.S., changes have taken place within security institutions and high-level purges have been carried out.
In this context, Major General Javier Marcano Tábata, one of the prominent figures in the Venezuelan military and commander of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) and the Presidential Honor Guard, was dismissed from his post. It was stated that Tábata was removed from his position due to his failure to fulfill his responsibilities regarding the protection of Maduro.
It was reported that Delcy Rodríguez, who continues to serve as the interim president in Venezuela, carried out this change in order to strengthen control over the security apparatus.
General Gustavo Enrique González López, who has held high-level positions in the past, was appointed to replace Javier Marcano Tábata. Within the scope of his new role, González López will manage both the Presidential Honor Guard Command and the military counterintelligence unit.
It was noted that the appointment decision aims to reorganize the country's security and intelligence structure, and that Rodríguez is attempting to establish effective control over national security.
These developments in Venezuela occurred following allegations that President Maduro was captured by U.S. forces and subsequently subjected to a judicial process. It is stated that Maduro and his wife were extracted from Caracas in an operation carried out by the U.S.
Following this event, political authority temporarily passed to Delcy Rodríguez. It is reported that with the decisions taken by Rodríguez, the security apparatus in the country is being restructured and figures close to Maduro have begun to be purged.
These developments in Venezuela have also found wide repercussions in the international arena. It was reported that an emergency meeting was held at the United Nations Security Council regarding the crisis and that some countries reacted harshly to the actions of the U.S.
In this context, discussions regarding the U.S. military initiative and the capture of Maduro continue to occupy an important place on the world agenda.
