Global Sumud Flotilla expected to reach Gaza within 3 days
While the Global Sumud Flotilla is expected to reach the Gaza Strip within 3 days, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has called for the flotilla to end its mission, citing the ongoing Gaza Plan.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break the blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid to the region, continues its progress in the Mediterranean with more than 50 ships. While the flotilla is expected to reach the Gaza Strip within 3 days, it has been reported that Israeli UAVs are conducting reconnaissance flights over the fleet.
Following Italy's decision to recall the naval ship accompanying the flotilla to avoid a "diplomatic incident" with Israel, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made a statement. Citing the 20-point Gaza Plan announced by US President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, Meloni called for the flotilla to end its mission.
Stating that the Gaza Plan is a new hope for peace, Meloni noted that the flotilla's progress could trigger a conflict with Israel and disrupt the current "fragile balance." Meloni said, "Many people would be happy to see Trump's plan derailed. I fear that the flotilla's attempt to violate Israel's naval blockade could provide a pretext for this. Therefore, I believe the flotilla should stop now."
