Iranian airspace reopened to flights

It has been reported that Iran has reopened its airspace to flights after approximately 5 hours, following a temporary closure due to military tensions with the US. According to information from the international flight tracking platform Flightradar 24, the decision, which was made around 00:15 Turkish time, was lifted around 05:00.

With the reopening of the airspace, 5 aircraft belonging to Iranian companies such as Mahan Air, Yazd Airways, and AVA Airlines were seen in the country's skies, and it was stated that international airline flights were gradually returning to normal.

IRAN HAD TEMPORARILY CLOSED ITS AIRSPACE

Amid ongoing mass protests since December 28 and the risk of a potential US intervention, Iran had taken a notable decision to temporarily close its airspace to all flights, except for pre-authorized international civil flights. In the NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) issued by Iran, it was stated: "The Tehran flight information region is closed to all flights except for civil arrival and departure flights. Prior flight authorization must be obtained from the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran for flights in this region."
