Lightning strike on control tower causes flight cancellations

It has been reported that dozens of flights were cancelled after lightning struck the control tower at Brest Airport, located in the Brittany region of northwestern France.

In a statement on the Brest Airport website, it was noted that despite all precautions, lightning struck the control tower on the night of December 30, and due to the resulting malfunction, airport flights have been cancelled until noon tomorrow.

Dozens of flights could not be operated due to the lightning strike during the busiest days of the year for the airport. In the western, northern, and northwestern regions of France, including Brittany, Côtes-d'Armor, and Morbihan, the alarm level had been raised to orange on December 30 due to adverse weather conditions.
