In a televised address, al-Bashir stated that he has been appointed to serve as the Prime Minister of the transitional government in Syria until March 1, 2025.
According to reports from Syria TV, as the Syrian transitional government led by Mohammed al-Bashir took office today, sources from the Syrian political administration speaking to the channel said that ministers from the 'Syrian Salvation Government' would continue their work in the transitional government, and that the transitional government would also address the current status of the army. According to the sources, who indicated that the army might undergo restructuring, security services will be dissolved and 'counter-terrorism' laws will be repealed during this process.

WHO IS MOHAMMED AL-BASHIR?
Mohammed al-Bashir was born in 1983 in the Jabal al-Zawiya region of Idlib. Having received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Aleppo, al-Bashir completed a second bachelor's degree in Sharia and law at the University of Idlib in 2021. Holding international certifications in public administration and project management, al-Bashir is fluent in English.

Al-Bashir served as an executive at the Syrian Gas Company in 2011. Later, he worked for two and a half years as the general director responsible for Islamic education at the Syrian Ministry of Awqaf. Subsequently, he held various senior positions at the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs and Development. Between 2022 and 2023, he served as the Minister of Social Affairs and Development in the Salvation Government led by Ali Kida. At the beginning of 2024, he was appointed to the position of Prime Minister by the Shura Council of the Salvation Government in Idlib.

In a press conference held after the capture of Aleppo by jihadists on November 27, al-Bashir had stated that the attacks by HTS were a response to the Syrian regime's attacks on civilians.
