Russia accuses US of 'colonialism'

Lavrov attended the Business Council meeting of the Russian Foreign Ministry held in the capital, Moscow.

Stating that the West, led by the US, is waging a "hybrid" war against Russia and attempting to hinder Russia's development by imposing sanctions, Lavrov said that "the war in the economic sphere continues."

"SERIOUSLY UNDERMINED TRUST"

Lavrov said, "The use of neo-colonial methods by the US and the countries following it has seriously undermined trust in American-style globalization. Many countries are questioning the effectiveness and impartiality of international financial institutions and interaction formats controlled by Washington."

Noting that for this reason, many countries, including Russia, are using alternative currencies and payment platforms for foreign trade payments, Lavrov stated that they would discuss the risks, threats, and opportunities arising for Russian companies in the economic sphere during the meeting.
