Statement from the Kremlin that will anger Trump
The Kremlin has announced that no date has yet been set for a new round of peace talks with Ukraine. Moscow, which stated it is open to a mediation role by the US, has faced criticism from Trump.
The Kremlin announced in a statement on Thursday that no date has yet been set for the next phase of peace talks with Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia supports US mediation efforts.
Russia and Ukraine held face-to-face talks in Istanbul on May 16 and June 2, after a hiatus of more than three years. These talks resulted in prisoner exchanges and the return of the bodies of fallen soldiers. However, no progress has been made regarding the ceasefire demanded by Ukraine with the support of the West.
US President Trump, on the other hand, stated that Russian President Putin is creating difficulties in the peace process, saying, "We had problems with Zelensky, but it is really hard to reach an agreement with Putin."
