In a statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. President Donald Trump said, "Now that we have it under U.S. control, should we change the name to Trump Strait?" The White House's social media account shared the statement, adding, "Sounds good."

Reiterating his claims that the Strait of Hormuz is under U.S. control, Trump stated, "Now that we have it under U.S. control, should we change the name to Trump Strait? It would be much more popular than it was before, just like America."
Trump's statement was reshared by the White House's social media account with the comment, "Sounds good."
The U.S. President had previously stated in earlier remarks that he considers the Strait of Hormuz to be U.S. territory.
