US naval blockade of Iran begins
The US military announced that it conducted additional airstrikes against Iran today and that a naval blockade against Iran has gone into effect.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) made a post on its social media account.
The post stated, "CENTCOM launched an additional airstrike against Iran today at 3:00 PM Eastern Time to continue degrading Iran's capabilities used to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."
The statement noted that the strikes were carried out at a time when American forces were preparing to restart a naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal regions, adding that the blockade would go into effect at 11:00 PM Turkish time (4:00 PM Eastern Time).
