Mount Etna erupts again: Tourists' escape caught on camera!

Mount Etna, one of the largest and most active volcanoes on the European continent, has become active once again. The massive ash clouds that rose into the sky following today's eruption caused moments of fear for people in the region.

In footage shared on social media, dense masses of smoke darkening the sky can be seen, while the moments tourists panicked and ran away from the area drew attention. Eyewitnesses reported that the volcano erupted suddenly, accompanied by rumblings from beneath the ground, and began emitting hot ash along with intense gas.

SHORT-TERM RED CODE ALERT

Immediately following the eruption, the Toulouse Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) issued a short-term "red code" warning, stating that a risky situation had emerged for aviation activities. According to the warning, the ash cloud consists mostly of water vapor and sulfur dioxide, and is being carried in a southwesterly direction by the wind.

The released footage shows a giant avalanche formed by hot rock fragments, ash, and gas spewing out from the volcano. While this natural phenomenon lost its intensity before reaching residential areas in the region, scientists have issued warnings that the volcano could become active again in the near future.

Mount Etna made headlines with a similar eruption in recent months, during which images of lava painting the sky red offered viewers a natural spectacle. However, today's eruption was notable primarily for its ash and gas emissions.
