Violent clashes on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border: 'It will receive the response it deserves'

Violent clashes have occurred on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. According to Pakistani security sources, the Pakistani army responded forcefully after Afghan Taliban forces launched unexplained attacks on Pakistani border outposts.

Pakistani officials reported that the Pakistani army's units on high alert at the border effectively targeted the attack points and caused serious damage to many Taliban positions. The statement noted that numerous Afghan outposts and militant groups suffered heavy casualties.

Officials added that the army targeted numerous Afghan positions, destroyed some of them, and inflicted heavy losses on Taliban and Afghan troops. It was alleged that during the clashes, Taliban fighters fled the area, leaving behind some outposts and bodies.

In a statement made via social media, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, "Afghanistan is playing a game of blood and fire. The strings of this game are in the hands of our eternal enemy. The Afghan forces' opening fire on civilian settlements is a clear violation of international law; just like India, Afghanistan will receive the response it deserves, so that it will never again dare to look at Pakistan with ill intent."

"HEAVILY ARMED ATTACKS WERE CARRIED OUT"

Taliban officials also confirmed the clashes in their statements. A statement from the Taliban's military wing indicated that, in retaliation for Pakistan's airstrikes, Taliban forces on the eastern border carried out heavily armed attacks on Pakistani border outposts in various regions.

Last Thursday, two separate explosions occurred in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and in the southeast of the country. Yesterday, the Taliban-led Afghan Ministry of Defense held Pakistan responsible for the attacks, claiming that these actions violated Afghanistan's sovereignty. The Pakistani administration rejected the accusations and called on the Afghan government to stop harboring militants from the group known as the "Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan" (TTP).

Tensions between Islamabad and Kabul have escalated recently due to the Afghan government's failure to take action against terrorist groups that carry out attacks on Pakistani soil. Since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, there has been a known significant increase in cross-border terrorist attacks, particularly in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan border regions.
