Zelenskyy reports clashes between North Korean soldiers and Ukrainian army: Labels it 'terror', calls for support
A statement has come from Zelenskyy regarding claims that clashes have occurred between North Korean soldiers and Ukrainian forces. Confirming that fighting has taken place between the two sides, Zelenskyy called on the world for support.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that North Korean soldiers and Ukrainian troops have faced each other on the front lines, stating that the first clashes with North Korean soldiers have opened a new page of instability in the world.
As reactions continue over North Korea sending troops to Russia to fight against Ukraine, a new statement on the matter has come from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Addressing the North Korea issue in a video where he described the latest measures taken and work carried out in the war with Russia, Zelenskyy said, 'I want to thank everyone who has reacted to the deployment of North Korean soldiers to Russia.'
Noting that some countries are standing with Ukraine not only with words but also by supporting its defense, Zelenskyy used the expression, 'Terror, unfortunately, can spread like a virus when it does not meet a sufficient response.'
Emphasizing that for this reason their response must be sufficient and strong, Zelenskyy confirmed that North Korean soldiers and Ukrainian soldiers have faced each other on the front, saying, 'The first clashes with North Korean soldiers have opened a new page of instability in the world.'
Calling on the international community for support, Zelenskyy stated, 'Together with the world, we must do everything to ensure that this step taken by Russia to expand and escalate the war fails.'
DEFENSE MINISTER HAD CONFIRMED CLASH CLAIMS
It had been reported to the public that North Korea sent troops to Russia to fight against Ukraine, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed in a statement yesterday that Ukrainian and North Korean units had faced each other on the front for the first time.
Stating that Ukrainian and North Korean soldiers had engaged in a small-scale clash, Umerov had expressed that the clash was not at the level of a systematically organized conflict where all forces were mobilized.
Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kovalenko had also made the statement, 'North Korean military units were fired upon for the first time in Kursk.'
