Erdoğan condemns attack on Halil Umut Meler
AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan condemned the attack on referee Halil Umut Meler following the Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match.
In a statement on his official social media account, Erdoğan said the following:
"I condemn the attack on referee Halil Umut Meler following the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match played this evening, and I convey my best wishes for his recovery.
Sport means peace and brotherhood.
Sport is incompatible with violence. We will never allow violence to take root in Turkish sports."
