Yeni Yol group starts its journey short-handed: 5 MPs did not join!

The Yeni Yol group, established in the TBMM with a 'European model,' has begun its work. The group, consisting of the Saadet, DEVA, and Gelecek parties and holding a total of 30 seats, started its journey with 5 members missing. A total of 25 deputies from the three parties attended the first group meeting of the Yeni Yol group.

DEVA Party Istanbul Deputy Evrim Rızvanoğlu and Izmir Deputy Seda Kaya Ösen, Gelecek Party Istanbul Deputy Selim Temurci and Istanbul Deputy İsa Mesih Şahin, and Saadet Party Chairman and Kayseri Deputy Mahmut Arıkan did not participate.

Mahmut Arıkan made a statement regarding the matter on his social media account. Stating that he was not present because he is the Chairman of the Saadet Party, Arıkan made the following statement:

“Today, the 'Yeni Yol Group,' established by our Deva-Saadet-Gelecek parties, held its first group meeting and began its activities in the TBMM. I wish the new group to be beneficial to our country and our nation. On this occasion, I would like to inform the public that I will not be taking part in this new group, which was established as a result of consultations with our Chairman and our authorized boards. We will continue to work with all our strength to be the voice of our nation in the parliament of the nation for the peace and prosperity of our country, and for a stronger democracy and rule of law."

Another name who did not join the Yeni Yol group was DEVA Party Istanbul Deputy Evrim Rızvanoğlu. Rızvanoğlu also made a statement on her social media account regarding the issue. In her post, she used the following expressions: “In line with the comprehensive discussions I held with our Chairman, Mr. Ali Babacan, I will continue my duty as the Istanbul 2nd District Deputy under the roof of the DEVA Party and will not take part in the new formation! I wish the newly established Yeni Yol Group success in its parliamentary work, and I hope that all initiatives in this process will yield beneficial results for our country and our nation.”

DEVA Party member Ösen, who did not take part in the Yeni Yol group, shared: “As a result of the meeting I held with our Chairman, I will not take part in the newly established group. I will continue my work under the DEVA Party for my country and for Izmir, where I am a deputy. I wish the ‘Yeni Yol Group’ to be beneficial to our country.”

One of the 5 deputies was Gelecek Party Istanbul Deputy İsa Mesih Şahin. In his statement yesterday, Şahin had used the following expressions:

“I wish the 'Yeni Yol Group,' which was established in the TBMM with the cooperation of three parties in the current process, to be beneficial. As a result of the meetings I held with our Chairman and our party boards, I will not take part in this newly established group. I will continue to work for our country and our nation with the same passion as the first day."
