Assets of Dilan Polat and Engin Polat to be put up for sale

Engin and Dilan Polat, who were under investigation by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for "laundering proceeds of crime," "violation of the Tax Procedure Law," and "violation of the law on betting and games of chance in football and other sports competitions," were detained in an operation conducted by the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau.

PETITION FILED TO TRANSFER ASSETS TO THE TREASURY

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç stated that the lawyers for the Polat family have submitted a petition to the TMSF (Savings Deposit Insurance Fund) and the Tax Office to have their assets transferred to the Treasury.

According to Erdinç's statement, the Polat family's lawyers requested that all movable and immovable property seized during the investigation, as well as the money in their bank accounts, be transferred to the Treasury.

The well-known journalist explained that the reason the lawyers for the Dilan and Engin couple filed petitions with the two institutions without waiting for the end of the trial was to ensure that debts are collected in advance and to take a preliminary measure against the fines that will be imposed at the end of the trial.

Stating that this is an important development, Erdinç recalled the statements given by Ahmet Gün, the Polat family's lawyer and also their financial advisor, who turned state's witness.

Erdinç continued his statement as follows:

"First, the vehicles will be put up for open tender one by one, and then the immovable properties, such as houses, will be put up for sale. The money in the Polat family's bank accounts had also been blocked.

If the TMSF and the Tax Office accept, all of that money will also be recorded one by one and transferred to the Treasury. These transferred funds will then be deducted from the penalties issued by the Tax Office due to the fake invoices identified in Dilan and Engin Polat's companies."

The Polat couple has approximately 29 cars and many other movable and immovable assets (such as houses and plots of land).
