Dilan Polat and Engin Polat appear in court again

Dilan and Engin Polat, who were sued due to a fight with their neighbors in Istanbul, have appeared in court.

Dilan Polat and Engin Polat connected to the hearing held at the Anadolu 35th Criminal Court of First Instance via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS).

Attorneys for both parties were present at the hearing.

'I DID NOT ENTER THE COMPLAINANTS' HOUSE'

In her defense at the hearing, defendant Dilan Polat said, "Are my lawyers not there? I don't know what to say. We have reached a settlement. I did not assault anyone. It is impossible for me to assault a man anyway. I did not say anything containing insults or threats. I am not a complainant. I have no past grievances with the complainants. We only had an argument because of the parking lot. I did not enter the complainants' house. This is already available in the camera footage. I do not accept the accusations. I request my acquittal."

Engin Polat spoke as follows in his defense at the hearing:

"On the day of the incident, our friends had come over as our guests. Mr. Metin had parked his vehicle behind the car of a friend who wanted to go home. When our guest's child fell ill, we had to leave urgently. When my wife informed him of this situation, an argument broke out between them. While I was sitting inside, I heard my wife's screams.

When I got up and went out, they told me that someone inside the house was attacking my wife and swearing at her. Upon this, I went towards Mr. Metin's house. Since I did not know him, I did not see him on the way. Standing at the threshold of the door, I asked Metin's wife where her husband was. There was no insult or threat made to the lady herself.

I am already standing there for a very short time in the video and then turning back. When I went downstairs, I saw Metin and my wife arguing, and Metin making gestures at my wife. When I saw him making gestures by hitting my wife's chest with his hands, I got worried, and an assault occurred once for the purpose of protecting my wife.

As can be seen from the videos, we had no opportunity to talk in any way. Therefore, I had no opportunity to insult or threaten him. I do not accept the accusation. I request my acquittal."

NEIGHBOR WITHDRAWS COMPLAINT

The attorneys for the complainants informed the court that their clients had withdrawn their complaints and requested that the case be dismissed.

Announcing its interim decision, the court adjourned the hearing to June 14 for the submission of reports regarding whether the child was taken to the hospital on the night of the incident, as stated in the defendants' testimonies, and for the complainants to be heard.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Dilan and Engin Polat held a birthday party for Engin Polat on Tuesday, June 6, at their luxury residential complex in Çekmeköy.

The parking lot was filled with the vehicles of the guests attending the party. Allegedly, their neighbors, who arrived home in the evening, parked their cars behind Sıla Doğu's vehicle.

After a while, the child of one of the attendees at the Polat family's party fell ill. Dilan and Engin Polat and their relatives, who left the house to take the child to the hospital, went outside to talk to the neighbors who had parked in front of Sıla Doğu's vehicle and tell them to move their cars.

Allegedly, Dilan Polat began to insult the neighbor who came out of his house. Later, Dilan Polat tried to kick the neighbor.

Engin Polat then ran into the neighbor's house and threatened and swore at the neighbor.

The woman, seeing Engin Polat in her house, called the police teams via the KADES application. Shortly after, police teams arrived at the Polat couple's house.
