Cemal Enginyurt: 'Erdoğan cannot be a candidate again, he has no right'

Cemal Enginyurt: 'Erdoğan cannot be a candidate again, he has no right'

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli was at the podium during his party's group meeting. In his speech, Bahçeli argued that President Erdoğan should be re-elected as president. These remarks by the MHP leader were met with backlash. One of those who reacted to Bahçeli was Democrat Party MP Cemal Enginyurt.

In a statement to Mehmet Oflaz from ANKA, Enginyurt said, "The Erdoğan administration has established a system of plunder, profiteering, and looting greater than the Mongol invasion over the past 22 years. The Erdoğan administration will continue to cause this country to collapse further every day, to sink economically, to lead to the deaths of women, the abuse of children, and the further expansion of the drug swamp."

Enginyurt continued his statement as follows:

"The continuation of the Erdoğan administration means hunger, scarcity, and misery. What Mr. Bahçeli says has no importance for us. Erdoğan cannot be a candidate again. He has no right to be a candidate. The Constitution does not allow Erdoğan to be a candidate. Turkey can no longer carry Erdoğan. Erdoğan should go and enjoy his grandchildren. He should never be elected again, and he will not be elected."

WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?

Bahçeli had said the following in his statement:

"If there are still those with question marks in their minds, here is what I will say in the final analysis: If terrorism is uprooted from our lives, if a heavy blow is dealt to the inflation monster, and if Turkey reaches the peak of political and economic stability, is it not a natural and correct choice for our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to be elected once more?

In this context, will making the necessary constitutional amendments not be among our upcoming tasks? For continuity in the state, stability in politics, and the construction of the Century of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the guarantee, he is the lover of the nation, and with his experience and knowledge, he is the only option in our view."
