Stray animal draft bill in Parliament

Stray animal draft bill in Parliament

AK Party is preparing for amendments to the Animal Protection Law for new regulations concerning stray animals, while Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the draft study has arrived at Parliament.

Tunç stated that the draft regulations were prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the study to be presented to the evaluation of members of parliament.

'THERE IS A NEED FOR LEGAL REGULATION'

Emphasizing that they maintain their determination regarding the protection of animals, Tunç said, "We are the government that enacted the Animal Protection Law. We had increased the penalties for those who mistreat animals. Our sensitivity continues. It is also necessary to prevent attacks on children and the elderly. It is clear that there is a need for a legal regulation."

Stressing that the balance must be well maintained, Tunç added, "We must both protect our animals and eliminate situations that threaten human health."
