The balance sheet of the trustee protests has been revealed

The Ministry of Interior announced that 253 people have been detained for participating in protests against the appointment of trustees. Of those detained, 33 have been arrested, 37 have been released under judicial control, and 3 have been placed under house arrest.

The balance sheet of the trustee protests has been revealed

The Ministry of Interior reported that 253 people who participated in the trustee protests have been detained.

In a statement on its X account, the Ministry noted that 33 of those detained have been arrested, judicial control measures have been imposed on 37, and house arrest has been ordered for 3, adding that processing for those remaining in custody is ongoing. The statement read as follows:

33 PEOPLE ARRESTED

"A total of 253 suspects, 226 of whom are accused of terror-related crimes and 27 of security-related crimes, have been apprehended for participating in illegal demonstrations, throwing stones at our security forces, and engaging in physical assaults. 

Of the suspects apprehended by the Provincial Security Directorates' Counter-Terrorism (TEM) and Security Branches, and against whom investigations were initiated by judicial authorities for 'membership in an armed terrorist organization, making propaganda for a terrorist organization, violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911, and resisting a public official,' 33 have been arrested. Judicial control measures were imposed on 37, and house arrest was ordered for 3. Processing for the others is ongoing."


WHAT HAD HAPPENED? 

The government recently detained CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer on allegations of being a member of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization and engaging in its activities. Following the detention order, an arrest warrant was issued for Özer, and a trustee was appointed to the Esenyurt Municipality.

Following the trustee appointment in Esenyurt, trustee decisions were made for the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti in Şanlıurfa. Citizens have shown a strong reaction to these decisions.
