Number of visitors to museums and archaeological sites announced

Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy made a statement on his social media account.

Ersoy said, "We hosted nearly 4 million visitors at our museums and archaeological sites in the first 3 months of 2024. The most visited museums and archaeological sites in our country during this period were the Konya Mevlâna Museum, Denizli Hierapolis (Pamukkale) Archaeological Site, İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site, Nevşehir Göreme Archaeological Site, Nevşehir Zelve-Paşabağları Archaeological Site, Ankara Republic Museum, Istanbul Archaeology Museums, Istanbul Galata Tower, Şanlıurfa Göbeklitepe Archaeological Site, and Nevşehir Kaymaklı Underground City."

Minister Ersoy also stated that museums will be open throughout the holiday, adding, "Are your Müzekarts ready? More than 300 museums and archaeological sites affiliated with our Ministry, as well as museums under the Presidential Directorate of National Palaces, are waiting for you throughout the Ramadan Feast. The Müzekart, which is indispensable for those who travel through history and culture, is only 60 liras. We look forward to seeing you during the holiday as well."

MEVLANA MUSEUM IN FIRST PLACE

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that the museums and archaeological sites, which reached a visitor count of approximately 30.5 million last year, hosted 3 million 886 thousand 998 visitors in the first 3 months of this year.

According to the statement, the Konya Mevlâna Museum was the most visited museum of the 3-month period with 383 thousand 392 people.

The Denizli Hierapolis (Pamukkale) Archaeological Site was visited by 259 thousand 25 people, the İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site by 249 thousand 482, and the Nevşehir Göreme Archaeological Site by 149 thousand 23 people.

MÜZEKART SALES INCREASED

The statement also indicated that a record was broken in Müzekart sales. Accordingly, 701 thousand 162 Müzekarts were sold in the first 3 months of the year.

Müzekart sales in January of this year increased by 7 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 217 thousand 33. February sales increased by 122 percent compared to the same month of the previous year to 245 thousand 10, and March sales increased by 77 percent to 239 thousand 119.
