TikTok plans to advertise by identifying products in videos
TikTok is testing a new feature that automatically identifies products in videos and encourages viewers to make purchases with a prompt saying, "Find similar items on TikTok Shop."
According to reports, TikTok is testing a new feature: a tool that automatically identifies objects in videos and encourages viewers to purchase products with a prompt saying, "Find similar items on TikTok Shop." TikTok Shop, which was launched in September, was initially limited to approved influencers and brands, but it has now been determined that the platform is working on a system where every video will essentially become an advertisement.
This new feature will eliminate the need for content creators to tag products, as the system will operate automatically. In other words, the platform will now use its algorithm not only to show users videos they will enjoy spending time on, but also to highlight products with purchasing potential and bring TikTok Shop to the attention of users.
The company confirmed to Bloomberg that it is testing this feature with some users.
