They reacted to the illegal electricity fine and raided the electric company
Illegal electricity usage cannot be prevented despite all efforts. In Diyarbakır, a group of 50 people raided the Dicle Elektrik building after being fined for illegal electricity use.
In the Çınar district of Diyarbakır, a group of approximately 50 people, consisting of agricultural irrigation subscribers, raided the Dicle Elektrik service building, using the illegal electricity fines identified and billed by the company's technological infrastructure as a pretext.
The attackers, who assaulted the district manager and beat a security guard, caused damage to the service building while issuing death threats. The incident was prevented from escalating further through the intervention of security personnel, and 3 of the attackers were taken into custody.
50 PEOPLE GATHERED IN THE DISTRICT CENTER
Illegal electricity users were identified in the rural Yazçiçeği and Ağaçsever neighborhoods of Diyarbakır's Çınar district, where illegal electricity usage exceeds 90 percent.
Administrative fines, prepared in accordance with regulations, were served to the users in question. However, the illegal electricity users, angered by the fines, gathered in the district center, claiming that "the team did not come, the company is issuing fines as it pleases."
Approximately 50 people from the neighborhoods in question marched to the Dicle Elektrik District Operations building in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood.
3 OF THE ATTACKERS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
The large group attempted to beat the district manager in his office, whom they wanted to speak with. The angry crowd, which beat the security guard who intervened, smashed windows and damaged items they could get their hands on while leaving the building. Police and gendarmerie forces arriving at the scene prevented the unrest from growing further. It was learned that 3 of the attackers were taken into custody following the examination of security camera footage and statements taken.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO THE INCIDENT
Dicle Elektrik lawyers filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office against the attackers on charges of death threats, assault, property damage, and obstruction of public service. An investigation has been launched into the incident, which was also captured on security cameras.
