High-level 'Israel' resignation at US State Department: 'We cannot be both anti-occupation and support the occupation'
Josh Paul, a high-level official at the US State Department, has resigned due to the administration's policy on Israel.
A director at the US State Department has announced their resignation, stating that they can no longer support the US administration's pro-Israel stance.
Josh Paul, who served as a director in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, which oversees arms transfers to allies and partners, explained the reason for his resignation in a letter published on the professional social network LinkedIn.
According to the letter, Paul noted that when he began working in the unit, he was aware that he would face certain moral dilemmas, and he had decided to continue as long as the "benefits outweighed the harm."
EXPLAINED THE CONTRADICTION
Paul stated that he had made moral compromises during his 11-year tenure, but that the "transfer of lethal arms to Israel" had crossed his red line.
Saying, "We cannot be both anti-occupation and support the occupation," Paul expressed that the policy Israel is pursuing with US support is causing great harm to both Israelis and Palestinians.
Paul remarked, "Blindly supporting one side does not benefit either side," pointing out that the US is repeating the mistakes of the past.
Stating, "I no longer want to be a part of this," Paul announced his resignation from his 11-year position.
